Geomechanical characterization of a rocky wall in Courmayeur (AO)

Client - City of Courmayeur

Year - 2013-2014

Laser scanner survey on the eastern slope of Mont Chetif, Becco dell’Aquila sector, aimed at returning an accurate three-dimensional digital model of the area. The dense point cloud of the slope was processed with both commercial and proprietary software capable of providing the geomechanical characterization of the rock mass. Moreover, detailed topographic maps and cross sections were extracted from the model and used as input for 2D and 3D trajectographic simulations, supporting the design of protection works for the underlaying structures and infrastructures.

Results

  • Layout scale 1:2000
  • Geomechanical parameters of rock mass (dip and dip direction of discontinuity sets, P21, Jv, VRU, etc.)
  • Rock mass quality map (CSMR index) 1:2000
  • Original point cloud filtered by the vegetation (XYZ format)
  • Re-sampled points cloud with a regular spacing of 50 cm (XYZ format)
  • 3D Mesh (PLY format)
